Walk around Sesame Street, and the neighborhood will play along with you!

The Challenge
To bring the Sesame Street set to life, Beaudry Interactive designed multiple interactive experiences embedded throughout Sesame Street’s iconic facade. Each interactive was site-specific and featured its own play style from touch to buttons to body tracking and secret sensors. At the same time, interaction design was intuitive enough to be accessible and enjoyable for children.

I led programming, animation and technical UX for four physically integrated games. I self-managed my production by setting weekly goals and scheduling requests from graphic designers, sound designers, film production, and hardware team members. After playtests, I  synthesized data into design iterations. I also managed an intern and reviewed their code throughout the development.

Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck

Matching, Fine Motor Skills, Life Skills, Creativity

Nestled between the real food trucks, this fast-paced matching game is housed within a full-scale replica of the Foodie Truck featured on Sesame Street. Cookie Monster and Chef Gonger need help to find ingredients. After saving some of their orders, you become the chef and can add any of the game’s 24 ingredients to your very own pizza. The play station is wide enough to offer single players a fun challenge, while multiple families can fit comfortably for cooperative play.

Community Center: Create a Monster
Imagination & Creativity, Shapes, Fine Motor Skills

Outside of the Sesame Street Community Center guests can assemble their very own digital monster with over 100 million possible combinations. When guests are finished, their new monster launches off of the easel and appears on the colorful Community Center windows for guests to find. A nod to themes of community and neighborhood, the windows feature an evolving collection of monsters, created by the fans.

Laundromat: Washing Machines
Matching, Categorization, Fine Motor Skills

Pop the bubbles in the Sesame Street Laundromat washing machines to find out what’s washing inside. As the bubbles clear, three category buttons appear, inviting guests to guess which one matches the item in their washer. This playful matching game features recognizable clothing items from favorite Sesame Street characters. Cycling through over 40 items, this play-at-your-own-pace game is a favorite for kids while their families shop at Hooper’s store.

Bike Shop: Tricycle Challenge

Math, Gross Motor Skills, Cause & Effect

Outside of the Sesame Street Bicycle Shop, guests can turn the window display into a racing game! Stepping right or left on a bike path controls a digital trike to gather numbers and avoid obstacles. Race through an 8-bit recreation of the Sesame Street neighborhood features cameos from all of the characters guests, while encouraging guests to move their bodies and practice counting to ten.

Elmo Bubble Wand Activations at Each Interactive
Gross Body Movement, Socio-Emotional Skills, Language

SeaWorld’s bubble wands are already a product beloved by guests. The Elmo Bubble wand includes a special chip to empower guests to unlock special content throughout the Sesame Street neighborhood. When guests can tap their wand on recognizable touch points, they can discover exciting changes to the gameplay and environment which can be enjoyed by those around them.
